Protecting the Amazon’s Rich Biodiversity
Amazon Rainforest Conservation is a social enterprise created in 2010 dedicated to safeguarding the Peruvian Amazon. It does it by offering environmental services for the protection and conservation of the amazon, to provide environmental services and promote sustainable projects for productive conservation. Forest and Wildlife Act No. 27308, under the heading of private conservation on public lands states there is the option of granting public land for conservation. This type of provision was enacted in 2000 and is granted a temporary basis under contract, if projects develop are related to conservation of biological diversity such as protection activities, research, education, and other nonprofit type projects.

The territory has over 76 thousand hectares, The Concession for Conservation granted to ARC is called La Isla and is located on an island in the buffer zone of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is one of Peru’s most well-preserved havens for Amazon wildlife, plants, and birding. Spanning more than five million acres, RAMSAR and it is twice the size of Yellowstone Park.
Located inside and enclosed by two large rivers, giving the conservation area a unique ecosystem. It has many endangered and endemic species. The concession sits on an island created by a divide in the Ucayali River that rejoins 80 miles downriver. From there it continues its course until it joins the Maranon River to become the Amazon River.
Our mission centers on sustainable resource use and impactful REDD+ conservation projects that preserve biodiversity and support research and education within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve buffer area.
The aim is to conserve the environment by promoting the sustainable use of resources, through partnerships with communities, the government, NGOs and Private Companies.
